What to Look for When Visiting Nassau

The city of Nassau is the largest part of the Bahamas. Anyone who is traveling to the Bahamas will probably be going through Nassau. There are all sorts of exciting things to look for when visiting Nassau. There are various great historical sites in the city, and there are all sorts of galleries and stores to check out too.

 

Nassau is notable in that it is the capital city of the Bahamas. This is on the island of New Providence near the island of Paradise Cay. This island features many great attractions from the Old World along with the excitement of modern travel and life.

Some of the historical sites in Nassau are notable in that they show the British heritage of the city and the Bahamas as a whole. The architecture of some of the oldest buildings in the area have Gregorian influences to them as a matter of fact.

One of the things to do when traveling to the Bahamas in Nassau is to hire a surrey for transportation. A surrey is a horse drawn carriage that is popular throughout the city. All sorts of historical sites can be seen with transportation through a surrey, including the Queen's Staircase and Pompey's Museum, a museum that features all sorts of great artifacts and documents that showcase the history of the Bahamas.

The Bahamian Gallery of Arts is one of the most popular sites in the city. The Junkanoo Museum is also very exciting for its amazing artifacts from the area.

Shopping is one of most enjoyable things to do when in Nassau. The Straw Market is one of the most exciting places to visit and is actually a place where people can bargain with the retailers. Not only do the merchants accept bargaining with customers but this is actually encouraged and anticipated. There are also duty-free stores throughout Nassau.

The beach of the Bahamian Riviera is one of the most amazing sites to see when traveling to the Bahamas. This is about three miles west of Nassau and can be reached easily through vehicle transportation from the city. This place features some of the most amazing beaches and resorts in the world. There are many restaurants, casinos and clubs to visit here.

The last thing to think about for visiting Nassau is that of where to stay. There are all sorts of great resorts and hotels throughout the city. Many of them have direct beach access.

Visiting Nassau can be one of the most exciting things to do when traveling to the Bahamas. Not only are there all sorts of great historical sites to visit but there are many fun stores and beaches to check out too. It is indeed one of the world's most unique places to visit.
